Walkthrough and plan
We look at every room with you: what it is used for, where the furniture goes, what should be a feature and what just needs to be bright.

Fixed written quote
Fitting count, colour temperature, dimmers and switching all locked in on paper before anything is cut.

Clean install
Holes cut to the fitting, drivers tucked away, old halogens and transformers removed and taken with us. Dust sheets down, rooms left as we found them.

Test, dim, hand over
Every circuit tested, dimmers matched to the fittings so nothing flickers, then signed off under our 12-month workmanship guarantee.

Sometimes, and it is usually a poor result. Old halogen fittings run off a transformer that many LED globes do not like, so you get flicker, buzzing or early failure, and the fitting itself is still a heat trap in the ceiling. A proper swap replaces the whole fitting with an LED downlight on a plug base. That is what we quote.
If the fitting plugs into a socket in the ceiling, you can unplug and swap it yourself. Anything hard-wired, any new position, removing old transformers or adding a dimmer is licensed electrical work in Queensland. We fit downlights on plug bases wherever we can, so the next swap is a five-minute job for you.
Fewer than most people think. Modern LED downlights are bright, and a ceiling full of them looks like a showroom. We start with feature lighting, strips and lamps, then fill in with downlights on a dimmer. Use the planner on this page for a starting point, and we confirm the layout with you on the walkthrough.
Warm white (3000K) for living areas and bedrooms, natural white (4000K) for kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, cool white for garages and workshops. Most downlights we fit are tri-colour, with a switch on the back of the fitting, so you can change your mind later without changing the light.
Usually not well. Older dimmers were made for halogen loads and cause LED flicker, buzzing or a light that will not go fully dark. We fit LED-rated dimmers and match them to the fittings, then test the full range before we leave.
Nearly always the fitting. Cheap downlights use poor drivers and run hot, and hot is what kills LEDs. We fit reputable brands with proper warranties and a rated life in the tens of thousands of hours, and we do not enclose them where they cannot breathe.
They run hot enough to scorch insulation and timber, and a lot of older Brisbane ceilings have insulation pushed right up against them. Modern LED downlights are rated to sit against insulation. Swapping them out removes the heat and lets you insulate properly.
It depends on how many fittings, whether we are swapping or cutting new positions, what is in the ceiling now, and the fittings you choose. We do a walkthrough and give you one fixed written price, so the per-light number never changes on the day. Price Match Guarantee applies to any written quote from a licensed competitor.
