Cheapest, most reliable, no electronics inside to die. Fit doubles: the labour is the same as a single.
Finish is a plate choice. A matte black Clipsal Iconic costs a bit more than white and the labour is identical, so do the whole room in one go.

Down from the roof or up from under the house
Queenslanders and highset homes are easy: drop a cable down the cavity from the roof space, or up from underneath. A point on an internal plaster wall is usually possible without a mark.
Brick, block and tile
Solid walls mean a chase and patch, or neat ducting along the skirting. We tell you which before quoting, and price the patch in if it is a chase.

Powerpoint questions, answered straight
Send a photo of the wall and tell us what you want to plug in. We will tell you the route and a price before anyone comes out.
A new powerpoint location is $250 each and replacing a point or switch in the same spot starts from $35 a point, supplied and installed with GST included. Above that it depends on where the powerpoint is going and how far we need to run cable from the nearest circuit. A straightforward add-on in a standard wall is at the cheaper end; runs through double brick or to a detached area cost more. We inspect on site and give you a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
It could be a tripped safety switch, a failed outlet, a loose connection behind the plate, or a fault elsewhere on the circuit. Check your switchboard first; if the safety switch keeps tripping or the outlet is still dead, it needs a licensed electrician to diagnose. We find the fault and quote the fix on the spot.
Yes, that's one of the most common jobs we do. We can add outlets to almost any room, convert single powerpoints to doubles, and install dedicated circuits for high-draw appliances where the existing circuit is near capacity.
Yes. We install quality powerpoints with built-in USB-A and USB-C charging, which free up the outlets themselves and get rid of the wall-wart chargers. They're a popular upgrade for kitchens, bedrooms, and home offices.
No. In Queensland all fixed wiring work, including replacing a powerpoint, must be done by a licensed electrician. DIY electrical work is illegal, voids insurance, and is genuinely dangerous. Our work is carried out under Electrical Contractor Licence 1502980 and tested before we leave.
They can be. Discolouration, cracking, buzzing, or a powerpoint that's warm to the touch are all signs of loose connections or arcing behind the plate, which is a fire risk. Older homes also often lack safety switch (RCD) protection on power circuits; we can check this at your switchboard while we're there.
Every powerpoint we install or replace is backed by a minimum 12-month workmanship guarantee. If anything we did develops a fault inside that window, we come back and fix it at no cost to you.

The older 2 A USB-A points charge slower than the brick that came with your phone, and the electronics inside wear out before the socket does. Everywhere else, a plain double is the better buy.

Yes. A recessed powerpoint and cable plate sit behind the TV so it hangs flat, and the HDMI and power leads drop inside the wall to a second plate behind the cabinet. It works on plasterboard walls; brick needs a chase or ducting.

For a few specific spots, yes: a lamp you want on a schedule, an outdoor point for festoons. As a whole-house install they are expensive and need an app and a hub to be useful. We fit them where you have a reason, and plain points everywhere else.
