Send a recent bill and your address and we will draw the panel layout on your roof and price it before anyone comes out.
From $5,700, supplied and installed with GST included and the STC rebate shown on the quote. Panel brand, inverter, roof type and the number of roof faces move it from there. You get one fixed written price after we have seen the roof and the board.
Most Brisbane homes land between 13 and 24 panels. Thirteen to fifteen 440 W panels make a 6.6 kW system, which covers a household using up to about 25 kWh a day. Bigger bills, an EV, a pool or a battery push you towards 10 kW and 22 to 24 panels. Use the roof planner on this page, then we confirm against your bill and the roof.
For a smaller household with modest bills and no plans for an EV or a battery, yes. A 6.6 kW array on a 5 kW inverter fits the single-phase export rules, maximises the rebate and pays back fast. If you are heading towards an EV, electric hot water or a battery in the next few years, 8 to 10 kW is the better long-term buy, and the extra panels are cheap.
No. North gives the most energy over the year, but east and west lose only about 13 per cent each and spread generation across the day. West-facing panels make power in the late afternoon when the aircon is running and time-of-use tariffs are highest, which is often worth more than the north numbers suggest. South is the last resort and only on a low-pitch roof.
A basic single-phase connection can export 5 kW, and on streets already full of solar Energex can set it to zero. A dynamic connection lets the inverter talk to the network every five minutes and export up to 10 kW per phase most of the time, and it lets you fit up to 10 kVA of solar inverter on single phase. The federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme gives the system STCs based on its size and location. We claim them and take the value off the quote as a line, so you see what you got. The scheme steps down each year until 2030, so a system fitted this year gets a bigger discount than the same one next year. It is separate from the battery discount.
If there is any chance of a battery in the next five years, yes. A hybrid inverter has the battery input built in, so adding a battery later is a half-day job with no second inverter to buy. It costs a bit more than a basic string inverter and saves a lot later.
Both work. Tin is faster: the rails clamp to the ribs without penetrating the sheet. Tile takes brackets under the tiles, hooked to the battens, and a few tiles usually crack and get replaced on the day. Tile installs take longer and cost a little more.
Shade on one panel drags down the whole string on a basic system. Where a roof face gets partial shade we fit optimisers on those panels, or lay the array on a different face. We check the shading from satellite and on the roof before quoting.
Not much. Brisbane retailers pay a few cents per kWh for exported solar, and some plans pay nothing. The value of solar is the power you use yourself at 30 cents or more. That is why we size for your daytime use, and why a battery or shifting the dishwasher and hot water to midday matters more than the tariff.
One day for most homes: rails and panels in the morning, inverter and isolators after lunch, power off for about an hour at the board. Two-storey homes, tile roofs and board upgrades can push it to two days. The Energex application goes in before we book, so there is no waiting on the day.
Brisbane rain keeps most arrays clean. Panels under trees or near the bay can use a rinse every couple of years. The inverter should be looked at every few years and it will tell you through the app if a string is under-performing. There is no subscription and nothing that needs an annual service contract.
